Monday, October 4, 1982: All For the Greater Gould

Just a note:

Monday, October 4, 1982: All For the Greater Gould.

The link below is NYT's article on 10/02/1982 on Gould's suffering the stroke. Perhaps they were clinging to their last shred of hope for Gould's recovery; the prognosis seems to be on a slightly hopeful note. The truth, however, was that he had been in comatose for two days, and the chances of his recovery were, as we all know now, virtually none; the pianist had suffered irreversible brain damage. Glenn Gould was announced brain-dead two days after family's making the announcement, and life-support was removed on October 4th by his father's permission. He was pronounced dead at 11:00 a.m. (Eastern Time).
