Glenn Gould: Happy Seventy-Eighth

Colored pencil on paper.
9" x 12"

September 25:

Glenn Gould was born on this day 78 years ago. During his short fifty years on Earth he helped many, intended or not, change their lives with his exceptional gift of music, and the very treasure he left behind continues to do just that. That is, more than plenty indeed. May his music continue to shower upon us and save us from our earthly troubles, give us love, joy, and most of all, the precious sense of his existence on this planet: that the musician was so powerfully alive with generous ideas that were eventually meant for us.

Glenn Gould : Northbound

"Northbound" digitally photographed. 11" x 14" Pencil on paper.

One of the earliest stages of Northbound.

The method I use is very similar to, but obviously not the same as, what's called sight-size drawing: an old method used when drawing from life. I only trace my own sketches or drawings when I do trace.

Working on Northbound

With the fourth season of The Glenn Gould Portrait Project approaching the end "Northbound", the most elusive piece so far, remains unfinished. The background is the main source of this reluctance, I believe, but this too will come to its end. The entire composition will be available when finished.

Pencil on paper.

Needn't to say much about it. The Man is in the eye of the beholder.
